Sharing, yes ofcourse…how many for us today care to share something other than the trivia, just for the sake of sharing! Well, very few, to be precise-under the common pretext of time shortage! Now it is sheer wonder that Vice Chancellor of a rather difficult to handle university like Visva Bharati, Prof Sushanta Dattagupta still manages the time and will to share. This itself is a valuable input to society- the need and ability to share. We, in Muktodhara editorial board is naturally delighted by this wonderful gesture. In essence, this site Muktodhara basically catering to the ex-students of Santiniketan is also a similar effort at sharing. We may not have had this platform Muktodhara, it was not a compulsion, but just a gesture of sharing.
As a member of the editorial board, I have requested so many to share their thoughts to us, with a very very poor result. People probably think that it is a useless job to indulge in- but we understand the value of sharing- a pre-requisite to any understanding and meaningful interaction between ex-students and Visva Bharati and hence the effort is moving on and will be a steady effort. In this context it was a huge wonder that I just had to request Prof Sushanta Dattagupta once for such a travelogue, and the travelogue was in my mailbox!
This is ofcourse the best article uploaded in this site so far, for several reasons. I shall definitely touch on that in a later comment; but first of all I would like to hail this spirit of sharing shown by the man in charge of Visva Bharati. We love the spirit.
    Thank you, Sir!

Communication between ex-students and Visva Bharati is non existent to be precise. Most of the news about Visva Bharati can be gleaned from printed media- that also from the ABP group chiefly, as they still feel interested in Visva Bharati or Santiniketan perhaps for historical reasons. Even for us residing in Santiniketan but not in direct link with University, it is at time surprising to get an important news conveyed to us through press! Many times I, myself was startled at such news, even being at Santiniketan. Interestingly many of University employees also get news about Visva Bharati through press!
The newly selected Alumni Association however has informally requested Visva Bharati to supply adequate information about the happenings in Visva Bharati, which are plenty to be exact, some activity or other is always going on in this University almost all year round- and very little information about them trickles out. It is important to establish some mechanism of interaction or at least information sharing between the ex-students and Visva Bharati. I have personally decided to request Prof Sushanta Dattagupta for such information to be made available to Alumni Association at least for publication in this site. I think, when Vice Chancellor can share his thoughts/experiences with us, we may request him to provide more information about the activities of VBU to us.
The equation again boils down to the same aspect- sharing!

Vice Chancellor’s travelogue demonstrates his erudition on matters non Physics.A very insightful dissection of the variances of of Western/Japanese /Indian cultures.
I exhort the ex-student community to extend all our hands to him to make
our beloved Visva Bharati to the pinnacle of education as our creator
